10 Important Settings And Things To Do After Creating Blogger Blog and Theme / Template

Many new bloggers are so determined to rank their site on Google, that they jump into writing articles and building links right away. Which, of course, is the wrong way! When you Creating Blog in Blogger, the stock installation ends up with few things which have to be changed. 1: Set Blog Title & Description

9: Remove Blogger's Default CSS & JS

remove Blogger's default CSS (widget_css_bundle.css) and JS (widgets.js) from your blog. Removing these files can improve your blog loading speed. But if you are using Blogger widgets or gadgets, it is strongly not recommended to do this. This method may only be useful for bloggers who code their own theme and use almost no widgets or gadgets.

Figure above shows loaded Blogger's default CSS & JS files in Chrome DevTools Sources panel. These are the files that we are going to remove.

Before doing the steps below, make sure you've downloaded a backup of your theme, just in case you run into trouble.

Remove Blogger's Default CSS

  1. Sign in to Blogger and choose the blog to update.
  2. In the left menu, click Theme.
  3. Under "Live on Blog", click Edit HTML.

Add the following attribute:

b:css='false'

to the <html> tag. So it may look something like this:

<html b:css='false' expr:dir='data:blog.languageDirection' xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml' xmlns:b='http://www.google.com/2005/gml/b' xmlns:data='http://www.google.com/2005/gml/data' xmlns:expr='http://www.google.com/2005/gml/expr'>

Remove Blogger's Default JS

  1. Sign in to Blogger and choose the blog to update.
  2. In the left menu, click Theme.
  3. Under "Live on Blog", click Edit HTML.
  4. In the theme editor, find the following code (press Ctrl+F or Cmd+F):

Replace it with the following code:

&lt;!--</body>--&gt;&lt;/body&gt;

Click Save theme.

Once you have done the steps above, go to your blog and open the Chrome DevTools Sources panel to verify if the files are gone.

10: Add Google Analytics & Link Site To Google Webmasters

Once the necessary settings are done, go to Google Analytics and add your site. Copy the tracking code and place it in the head section of your blog (in the theme or using a plugin).

Also, create a new site property in Google Search Console (Webmasters) and submit the sitemap. This will help you in verifying the site’s errors and monitoring search stats.
